The Rules
1. This is probably one of the most important of all. NO GODMODDING!
Godmoding is a term used in message board based role-playing games to describe two poor behaviours of players. Godmoding is almost always frowned upon by other members of the game, because it is regarded as a form of cheating against the game's tacit rules. - Google
To translate, don't manipulate the other character without the other person's permission. Always give them a chance to react.
2. No Gary-Stu/Mary-Sues.
Mary Sue, sometimes shortened simply to Sue, is a pejorative term used to describe a fictional character, either male or female (male characters are often dubbed "Gary Stu", "Marty Stu", or similar names), that exhibits some or most of the clichés common to much fan fiction. Such characters were originally labeled "Mary Sues" because they were portrayed in overly idealized ways, lacked noteworthy or realistic flaws, and primarily functioned as wish-fullfillment fantasies for their authors, often very young and unsophisticated. - Wikipedia
Your character shouldn't be perfect in every single little way. There has to be flaws, absolutely has to be.
3. Respect your fellow RPGers!
Just, have some basic respect for the people around you. Let's remember that lesson we had in kindergarten. Follow the Golden Rule.
4. Don't Roleplay until your profile is approved.
It's just bad taste to roleplay before your profile is approved. We need to make sure that it fits the RPG. Most of the time, you will have it approved, but still, there might be flaws, so just don't post in the RPG sections until you've been approved.
5. Yes it is Teen to R. Don't go overboard.
I'm giving you the privelege and the trust of taking this forum past the cutesy little "I bit him and he turned!". Description is good. Breaking the rest of the rules is bad. And for bloody hell's sake, we don't need to see just how much blood splattered the walls.
6. Try to be literate!
Sure, no one's perfect, you will make spelling mistakes. But, PLEASE write properly. It's understandable to have some mix ups with present and past tense if English isn't your first language, but it's NOT understandable to write without proper punctuation. You all can write better than that.
7. No Flaming
Pretty Self-Explanatory, but just in case it's not, please do not insult people outside RP. It is understandable for one character to insult another, simply because that's how people are sometimes, but don't let that get out of hand. Yes, swearing directed at someone does automatically count for flaming. Avoid dropping an F-Bomb or something of such on people. It just won't work out. You will get caught, and get at least a warning for it. This includes the Cbox, and you will be punished on-forum for actions on the Cbox, so be wary, and please do not flame.
8. No Spamming
This could possibly be the biggest one on the list. Do not spam. This includes the Cbox, and you can get warned easily for spamming in the Cbox. Keep in mind, if your warning level reaches 100%, you are automatically banned from the forum. Do not post needless messages on the Cbox and Forum, it is really disrespectful to the other members.
9. Signatures
Please be courteous with this, if your signature stretches the page, then it is not alright. We will give you a warning if it stretches the page, and if it is not fixed, we will remove it. Not trying to be mean, but we don't like it when pages are out of whack due to a giant signature. We will not warn for this unless it is done extensively, but please be courteous of this rule anyway.
The width limit for signatures is 500 px. Though some rendering engines (browsers), such as Safari, would allow for far more before the page is stretched, Internet Explorer and Firefox, the most common rendering engines, max out at 500. If you need something resized, I am sure one of your fellow members will be willing to provide that service for you.
If we need more rules, that means that there's something wrong with the forum. >_> Just check back here every once in a while for new rules. They might be needed... hopefully not, there's too many rules already, but they might be needed.
